On October 22nd at Cipriani Wall Street, Futures in Education raised $2.4 million. Futures in Education is an organization that has been raising money to fund Catholic education in Queens and Brooklyn.
On January 18th 2019, in front of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington D.C. the annual March for Life took place. Nick Sandmann, a junior at Covington Catholic High School in Park Hills, Kentucky was captured in a viral photo and video at the March for Life. Each year the diocese of Brooklyn holds the Sister Peggie Merritt Memorial Oratorical Contest. This year’s competition was held at Our Lady of Mercy in Forest Hills, Queens. Eighteen Catholic students from Brooklyn and Queens competed this year. Sister Peggie Merritt was a dedicated educator to the Catholic faith for over 60 years.
